The Sparrow

I recently started posting some of my gratitude lists and normally my gratitude lists consist of more than one something, this time I would like to have it be this song.

Have you ever had a song that deeply touched you and helped you feel something that you wouldn't have otherwise come to? Here I would like to share with you readers a song that helped quiet my sad heart and open another door to a warm and peaceful place. I sang it with some lovely girls and good friends at the most poignant farewell I have ever attended.

Please note that the lyrics are similar to those that the N family had us sing, and I googled these lyrics rather than type up all the lyrics from the version we sang. Also if you would like to hear it sung by a very talented lady rather than some scrawny white girls go here

"His Eye is On the Sparrow"

why should I feel discouraged
why should the shadows come
why should my heart feel lonely
and long for heaven and home

when Jesus is my portion
a constant friend is He
His eye is on the sparrow
and i know he watches over me
his eye is on the sparrow
and i know he watches over me

i sing because i'm happy
i sing because i'm free
His eye is on the sparrow
and i know he watches me
His eye is on the sparrow
and i know he watches
i know he watches
i know he watches me

I sing because I'm happy
I sing because I'm free
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches me
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches me
He watches me
I know
He watches
Me

Yeah, I totally have. I had never heard this hymn before (Where Can I Turn For Peace?) and I heard it at my uncle's funeral when I was in high school and it touched my soul - ever since then it has helped me through hard times and been my favorite hymn. Its amazing how much music can touch the soul huh? :) loves!
