We all have those things that set us off. For me it tends to be the way some people act. At my new job it has been interesting to see what it is (if anything noticeable) that tries ones patience.
I knew that the wheat grass juicer was a bit of a sore subject to some of my fellow employees before I was ever officially trained on how to use and clean the juicer (you get grass, and put it in the big hole up top, juice comes out of the smaller whole in the bottom, wear gloves and clean up when you're done).
For one of the assistant managers the wheat grass juicer and her are the antithesis of friends. She dislikes it (or him when I refer to wj as poor little guy), he dislikes her, they dislike each other. Point and case: On one of my first days off register as a lackey I was trained on the machine by my this manager. During this experience my manager became more and more frustrated the longer the juicing went. As she became frustrated I heard about all of the days stressors and it was decided that we were not going to be offering wheat grass shots to customers until the store ordered a specific piece that would automatically make the wheat grass juicing experience exponentially better. We all have a bad day here a there and make rash choices, right?
Well a few days ago was the day I saw that the manager and the machine really are enemies.
She was training me (again) on the wheat grass machine. The new part had come and was in use. A new wheat grass flat had been pulled off the shelf. Susan (wheat grass regular) had called in the order to give plenty of juicing time. Everything seemed perfect. I was juicing but I suppose I wasn't going fast enough because the assistant manager came in to hurry things along. At one point I'm not sure if it was the machine or the manager that was growling, maybe both. I kid. Really though, green stuff was everywhere and she left the room convinced that we needed some other part (really we didn't) that just needed to be ordered. I did learn not to let this manager mess with the wheat grass machine though, for everyone's sanity.
