Pete and Andrea are from Washington and they are in love. Cute. They also love the environment. Cute hippies. Just like any of us-cute hippies or no-they don't have a lot to spend on a wedding. They plan on paying for their wedding by collecting and recycling aluminum cans-about 400,000 which equals to about 5 tons of cans over the space of 7 months. From their website here is an explanation in their own words of why they want to do this:
Even simple weddings cost more than a few dollars. We don’t really have much extra cash sitting around, since we’re just starting out. Add that to the fact that environmental responsibility plays a big part in our lives, and we hatched the crazy plan. Pay for the wedding – with recycling. Aluminum recycling is one of the most sustainable and useful forms of recycling. We’re shooting for 400,000 aluminum cans – approximately 5 tons of empty cans. We would like to get married on July 31 – which gives us 7 months to hit the goal.
They're about 20% there. I like these people. I plan on recycling more myself now too. What about you?
