I like this website. There's a series of activities/assignments that you can do and document. The assignment was given with a series of precise instructions for an activity that are intended to guide people to their own experiences. Examples of the assignments include:
Climb to the top of a tree and take a picture,
Make a flyer of your day,
or,
Write your life story in one day or less.
At one time this website was open to submissions so that people could share their experiences. This project went from 2002 to 2009 with over 8,000 people that participated.
You can still check out what assignments are there and what some of the submissions look and or sound like. Just click assignments up at the top left menu scroll along the side until you find one that calls to you.
Here is a quote to by Miranda July who is one of the people who ran this website:
"Just because something's uncomfortable doesn't mean it's wrong. And just because you have your doubts about what you're doing, or you don't trust yourself 100 percent, that's normal. There's this illusion that people who do stuff are totally confident, and I've never been. I've been riddled with doubt through the whole thing. You know, with a few flashes of maybe, MAYBE this will be great."
How can you not love someone who is so completely honest with her insecurity but doesn't let it stand in her way?
I know what I'll be doing in my free time--maybe Thanksgiving break won't be filled with just stressful projects and odd family dynamics
I found out about her, and this website from this lovely blog
