Like a Time Machine

There are things that will always bring memories forth:
  • The smell of spring reminds me of elementary school and playing outside far longer than I should have.
  • The feel of a warm summer morning brings me back to my summer cross country conditioning days where despite a combination of a definite ADD tendency and some awesome playful friends I can say some conditioning actually happened.
  • The sound of a certain accent will transport me back to fight class and punching drills.
I learned today I have two more I didn't know were there. I don't know how I feel about these new ones yet, but I am amazed at how many cool and weird ways the human mind works.

I totally know what you are talking about!! I realized the other day that the smell of cigarette smoke (though disgusting), makes me think of home. Not that either of my parents smoke... or anyone in my immediate family for that matter. But pretty much most of the population of Europe does and that is where I feel most at home. Also the smell of rain makes me want to curl up on a porch under a blanket and just listen to the droplets fall from heaven as I think about my past.

Good times!
